Measure Telegram Ads on CPA, not impressions

Impressions tell you an ad was shown. CPA tells you what a lead cost. Model the unit economics before launch, track cost per lead daily, and scale only what pays.

A Telegram campaign can rack up impressions and still lose money, because impressions measure reach and reach does not pay salaries. The number that matters is cost per acquired lead, and the discipline that produces it starts before launch, not after. Model the economics first, track CPA daily, and the reporting turns into a decision instead of a vanity slide.

Why impressions mislead

Impressions and CPM tell you an ad was served and what the reach cost. Neither tells you whether anyone acted. Optimise for impressions and you learn to buy cheap reach in channels that never convert. The auction is happy to sell you that all day. What you actually want is the smallest number of euros that produces a qualified lead, and impressions are silent on it.

Model the economics before you spend

Good measurement is set up before launch. We start by modelling the unit economics: what a customer is worth, what a lead can cost to stay profitable, and therefore what CPA the campaign has to hit. That target is the whole point of the exercise, because it turns "let's try Telegram" into a clear pass-or-fail number. Without it, you cannot tell a good campaign from an expensive one.

What to track daily

Once live, the campaign is managed against that target every day:

  • Cost per lead by channel, so you see which channels pay and which only spend.
  • Cost per lead by creative, so the winning message gets the budget.
  • The blended CPA against the agreed target, so you know at a glance whether the line is healthy.

Every number sits in a shared dashboard. Results are read, not reported by word of mouth, which also removes the monthly argument about what happened.

Scale the winners, cut the rest

CPA data makes scaling simple. The channels and creatives that beat the target get more budget. The ones that miss get cut. You are not pouring money into a campaign and hoping. You are compounding the combinations that already proved they pay, which is the only kind of scaling that stays profitable.

The report that survives a budget review

When the CFO asks what Telegram Ads earned, "two million impressions" is not an answer. "A qualified lead at €14 against a €20 target, and here is the dashboard" is. That sentence keeps the budget, because it speaks in the language the budget is measured in. Build the campaign around CPA from the start and the review takes care of itself.
